The ICT&S Center is a research focus at the University of Salzburg that deals with the interrelations between Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and society.
The ICT&S Center hosts a meeting of representatives of higher education research institutions and academia in the field of ICTs and Society, that is, Social Informatics, New Media Studies, Technology Assessment and Design of ICTs, Information Society Research, Human Computer Interaction, and so on. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the establishment of a network.
The meeting is part of an activity carried out on a collaborative platform which is open to every researcher in the field (see: http://www.icts-and-society.net).
The meeting will take place on 20 and 21 June 2008. The attendance of the meeting itself is limited to a number of 30 persons only.
The network launch meeting will be accompanied by an international ICT&S doctoral students’ meeting that will give young international scholars in the newly emerging transdisciplinary research field of social implications of ICT research the opportunity to present the research that underlies their doctoral theses and to discuss these issues with international experts and students. The gathering also is an opportunity for making contacts and networking. Participation of further students is welcome.
